Placerville Event: American River Conservancy's Volunteer Workday
Please join us Wednesday, April 24th from 9:00am to 1:00pm! We will continue to plug away at spring planting as the daylight gets longer. Along with planting, seeding, and trellis set up, there is always weeding and pathways maintenance to keep up on. We are also working to extend our Native Plant Demonstration Garden and facilitate riparian restoration along the creek coming off our 6-acre lake.
The Giving Garden began as no more than a five acre plot of land and a dream to have a place for public both to experience and learn from. Visitors enter the space through the Native Plant Demonstration Garden (NPDG) where volunteers and staff plant, propagate and care for native plants. We have annual vegetable rows and a small fruit tree orchard where produce is grown to donate to the Upper Room in Placerville to help feed the hungry. The Giving Garden is tended using only natural organic soil amendments and compost and is absolutely dependent upon support from volunteers like you!
This project is intended for people to participate of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. All are welcome in the Garden.
Please contact Taylor Faye Benedict at Stewardship@arconservancy.org or 530-621-1224 to sign up for the workday or to ask any questions!
