El Dorado Event: “Roots” Botanical and Human History of El Dorado Ranch

Annie Walker, botanist and ARC land steward, will lead this unique historical hike to an old mercury and cinnabar mine, and the Fanny Creek cemetery. You will also encounter a great photo opportunity at the Miller Ranch house, where we will rest and regroup before returning home. This time of year you are likely to see more beautiful green pastures and oak trees than wildflowers, but a list of many of the plant species will be available upon request. This is an easy, slow-paced hike of 4+ miles, including two creek crossings, so wear appropriate shoes. Ages 10+ welcome. Rain cancels. High-clearance vehicles and drivers needed for carpool from El Dorado. Contact ARC to sign up, and for meeting location (El Dorado). Suggested donation: $10/members, $15/non-members julie@ARConservancy.org or 530-621-1224.
