Diamond Springs Event: Sierra Wildlife Rescue's “Introduction to the Baby Bird Nursery”
The Baby Bird Nursery, located at SWR’s Wildlife Center, 777 Pleasant Valley Rd, Diamond Springs, opens its doors in late April to mid-May, generally remaining open through July. Numerous volunteers are needed for the “BBN” each year.
As a volunteer, you will learn to feed and care for the babies until they are fully-fledged and eating on their own. After that, they will be transferred to large flight cages at other bird rehabbers’ properties until they are old enough to care for themselves, and then released in the wild. On several dates in April, we will be holding classes at the BBN. “Introduction to the Baby Bird Nursery,” is an overview of all you need to know to join us in caring for the hundreds of orphaned or injured baby birds brought to us during the spring and summer by the concerned public, but you will receive helpful further instruction from experienced volunteers.
Training classes will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 10am – noon; Tuesday, April 9th, 7pm – 9pm; Saturday, April 20th, 10am – noon; and Tuesday, April 23rd, 7pm – 9pm. You need attend only one class to qualify to care for the birds.
Please call Barbara Barker early, at 530-621-2650, to register for training or with any questions.
