Diamond Springs Event: Sierra Wildlife Rescue’s 2019 Volunteer Orientation Event
SIERRA WILDLIFE EVENT FOR PROSPECTIVE AND NEW VOLUNTEERS
Please join us for Sierra Wildlife Rescue’s 2019 Volunteer Orientation Event, to be held on January 27, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at SWR’s Wildlife Center, 777 Pleasant Valley Rd, Diamond Springs. There is no need for prior registration or fees.
Meet current SWR volunteers and discover your interests and opportunities for direct rehabbing of orphaned and injured wild animals and support services, including community education, planning and publicity for SWR events and projects through social media and publications, grant writing, or sewing or building cages, cage furnishing and enrichment objects. The orientation will include a short overview of SWR, followed by the freedom to wander throughout the exhibits and acquire more information on whatever catches your interest. Learn how to participate in SWR in the above areas, including classes on rehabbing a wide variety of wildlife species (choose the species you want), including fawns, rabbits, squirrels, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, opossums, raccoons, baby skunks, songbirds, hawks, owls and others, and learn how to provide housing, food and medical care. Caring for orphaned or injured baby birds during late spring and summer at our Baby Bird Nursery is also an option, for which we need many volunteers.
Volunteers are the backbone of SWR, and we could not function without them. This free event will be interactive and informal for people to explore all the ways you can become involved with SWR. Whatever your interests, talents or skills, SWR has activities you will enjoy, as well as making a huge contribution to our wildlife care. Please join us for this interesting and memorable event. We look forward to meeting you!
