Granite Chief Fall backpacking Trip

ARC GRANITE CHIEF FALL PACK TRIP TO HELL HOLE AND FIVE LAKES TRAIL -- 3-DAY OVERNIGHT BACKPACK


Saturday & Sunday, Sept 28-30, Friday 1:00pm – Sunday 5:00pm


ARC volunteer Tom Dodson will lead this exploration of the Granite Chief Wilderness Area from the Hell Hole Reservoir trailhead. We will be leaving Friday afternoon from Foresthill and drive together to Hell Hole Reservoir where we will leave our cars and start the hike to the Five Lakes Trail Granite Chief trail head. We will camp Friday afternoon at the Hell Hole Reservoir campgrounds. Saturday morning we will enter the Granite Chief Wilderness Five Lakes Trail and set up camp at Whiskey Creek where there are three old log cabins used by the cattle ranchers during the summer.


We will take a short hike up to the back side of Squaw Valley. Sunday we will head back down to Hell Hole Reservoir. There will be water along the whole trail. Hike difficulty, intermediate with no extreme elevations. Hike total will be 16 miles round trip.


Age minimum: 12 years-old with backpacking experience. Beginners welcome.


Cost: $40/members, $55/non-members (Drivers needed. Indicate desire when signing up.)
