Women’s Fund El Dorado Annual Grants Gala
Women’s Fund El Dorado (WFED) will award a record $73,000 to nonprofits on the county’s western slope at its annual Grants Gala, set for Thursday evening, May 4, and open to the public.
The event includes a buffet dinner and will be held from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds’ Forni Building, 100 Placerville Dr., Placerville. Tickets are now on sale and may be purchased in advance from www.womensfundeldorado.org, or call 530-622-5621 for more information. Prices are $30 through April 25 and $35 April 26 through May 4.
In addition to awarding the grants, recipients of WFED’s Wickline Scholarships will be formally announced and attendees will hear inspiring updates from previous grant recipients. For the second year, granting has been expanded to cover a broad range of organizations, from human services to animal welfare to the environment.
Grant proposals, which were due Feb. 17, were reviewed and scored by the seven-member WFED Grants Committee. The top three in each category then moved forward to the entire membership, which then voted on which will receive funding.
Women’s Fund El Dorado, a fund of the El Dorado Community Foundation, is a collective giving organization that is open to all for a donation of $200 a year or more. Funds collected are pooled and leveraged in the form of the grants, which support community philanthropy to enhance the quality of life on the western slope of El Dorado County. Since it was founded a decade ago, membership has grown to over 440 and the organization has granted more than $411,000. For details, visit womensfundeldorado.org.
