Mental Health Workshop in El Dorado Hills September 13

Approximately 1 in 5 adults in the U.S experiences mental illness in a given year.  And the impact to our communities is devastating:

· Serious mental illness costs America $193.2 billion in lost earnings per year

· Mood disorders, including major depression, dysthymic disorder and bipolar disorder, are the third most common cause of hospitalization in the U.S. for both youth and adults aged 18–44

· Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S., the 3rd leading cause of death for people aged 10–2421 and the 2nd leading cause of death for people aged 15–24

· More than 90% of children who die by suicide have a mental health condition.

And no community is immune: mental health issues cross all ethnic, education and income spectrums.

To help our community address this important issue, St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in El Dorado Hills welcomes mental health advocate Diane Mintz, author of In Sickness and in Mental Health, Sunday, September 13, 12:30-2:30 p.m.

This workshop is intended for those who want to better understand someone who struggles with mental illness and those who deal with mental illness personally. Meet others who desire mutual support and connection with others in Christian community.

RSVP for lunch ( 916) 933-1441, or email  The address of the church is 1001 Olson Lane, El Dorado Hills, CA. 95762.
