We all know our area is ripe with wineries and wine bars, but did you know there are a multitude of other, unconventional spots to sip? Read on for the buzz.

1. What’s a better pairing than blockbusters and booze? At Studio Movie Grill, patrons can sip on vino by the glass or bottle, making even the biggest film flop a little bit better.

From 10 a.m. to noon on September 26 at the Murer House, learn how to prepare the traditional potato-based pasta of Italy and taste wines at the Homemade Gnocchi and Wine Pairing Class with Orietta

In addition to killer craft brews, you’d be remiss not to check out the wine room at Jack Russell Farm Brewery. With a huge patio and lovely views, it’s the perfect place to while away a weekend. 530-647-9420

Enjoy premium cigars, handcrafted microbrews and fine wines…all at Perfecto Lounge

Don’t let the name fool you—while Hop House does indeed serve a bevy of beers, they also offer plenty of wines too; and on Wednesdays after 3 p.m., all bottles are half off!

Grab your pals, paintbrushes and a glass (or three) of wine for an art class at Painted. With reds and whites, the creative juices are bound to flow.

Please the hop and grape lovers in your family at The Monk’s Cellar, which offers artisanal beer and plenty of vino.

Open to Associate Level Annual Members and higher, Harris Center’s Art of Wine receptions feature tastings by local El Dorado County wineries, followed by a performance. Don’t miss this month’s event on September 18.

Forget the popcorn! At Esquire IMAX Theatre, you can sip vino while watching first-run 3D movies on a giant screen.

At the Demystifying Fish Part II Cooking Class on September 10 at Wine & Roses  Chef John will present each fish as an appetizer or meal with sides, sauces and plating suggestions. Tickets include a glass of wine and food tastings.
