El Dorado Arts Council To Host National Dance Day
● Published by Style
El Dorado Arts Council is set to host National Dance Day on Saturday, July 25. The biggest dance event of the
year, this free festival promotes dance and health in the community.
Performances by local dance studios, including Jammin’ Dance and Fitness and Sarpika Tribal Dance, will showcase the many different styles of dance. Dance instructor Richard Kowaleski will provide lessons in East Coast Swing for audience members itching to try out their moves.
“Dancing plays a vital role in our culture. It is a fun way to keep healthy and happy,” says Alisyn Gularte, director of operations and outreach for El Dorado Arts Council. “Dance brings us together, regardless of whether we are a professional or novice. It fosters community.”
All National Dance Day festivities will be held in the parking lot of the historic Fausel House at 772 Pacific Street in Placerville. An array of art and street vendors will be on site to sell beer, food and wares. Madroña Vineyards of Camino will provide several varieties of wine for purchase.
The festival program begins at 3 p.m. with dance studio performances. Swing dance lessons start at 5 p.m. followed by live entertainment from one of the foothills’ favorite jazz bands, the Tepid Club of Cool. Come prepared to dance the night away!
