Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Obsessed Events is a collective of fun, creative and passionate wedding professionals. We plan, design and coordinate weddings for all different types of couples in Northern California—although we also love to travel and have done a few weddings out of the area. Our niche are couples from out of town who are returning “home” for their big day and have chosen our beautiful area for their destination wedding (along with estate, ranch and garden weddings). It definitely found me! I stumbled into the business by planning my own wedding. Many of my vendors were impressed with the process they experienced with me. One in particular, my photographer Nikki Hancock, was especially impressed and referred me my first bride. Because of Nikki’s faith (and pressure), Obsessed Events was literally started in a weekend. Now we are one of the top five wedding planners in the area.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

The relationships I build with my clients bloom into full-time friendships. It’s amazing helping people plan one of the biggest days of their lives. I get to relieve such an exuberant amount of stress from their lives during the wedding planning process. During this time I also get to promote local and small businesses through my referrals to brides and grooms. Keeping things local, small and personal is a high priority to me.

What’s your hidden talent?

I can sing. I love karaoke!

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

I love Amerikan Ichi in Placerville. They have amazing sushi and perfect prices.

What’s your favorite local business other than your own?

Under The Arbor—a shabby chic little knick-knack antique place that has some of the coolest stuff.

And finally, customer service is...?

Customer service is listening intently to your client, finding out what their needs are, providing that need with a smile, as well as finding out what their problems are and solving them without excuses.

Do you know that our editorial is not paid for, nor can it be purchased? In fact, our Introducing and Dine reviews are not paid advertisements. If you’d like your business profiled, please email Megan Wiskus at Once we determine when your business will be featured, we will contact you to schedule a time to come out and take a photograph. Thank you!
