Free “Aging & Caregiver” Educational Series in January 2015

The educational series will be held January 6, 7 and 8, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Placerville Senior Center located at 937 Spring Street in Placerville.
The series will provide instruction and support for people who care for or plan to care for a family member or friend aged 60 years or older. The series topics will include the following:
Tuesday, January 6, 2015, Ethical Issues Near the End of Life:
Discussions will be centered on ethical issues and decisions that may arise
during a caregiver’s journey. Discussions related to palliative care vs.
hospice care, resuscitation and artificial hydration will be covered.
Wednesday, January 7, 2015, Advanced Care Planning and What it Means: Participants will learn the rights and responsibilities of a health care and/or financial agent, including many other responsibilities that are associated with the health and well-being of loved ones. Participants are encouraged to bring questions.
Thursday, January 8, 2015, Planning a Funeral and Personalizing a Tribute: This session will help take the stress out of preparing for final arrangements. Participants will learn valuable information to plan a funeral, personalize a tribute and learn the options of burial and cremation.
The educational series will be presented by local experts
in their respected fields. Participants may attend one or all of the classes.
The classes are provided free of charge, although donations are gratefully
accepted. Light refreshments will be served.
