Q: My teenager is going through a stressful time. What are some simple and healthy ways to relieve that stress?
A: Exercise! It’s the absolute best way to decrease stress. Find an activity that they enjoy, whether it be yoga or some lightweight exercises, and when they’re feeling stressed out, tell him or her to take a quick break to exercise. It will increase serotonin levels, which help to regulate mood, appetite and sleep cycles, as well as bring down stress levels.
