As CEO of the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce, Laurel Brent-Bumb works hard to help business thrive in our community.
“We promote a healthy business climate through advocacy, lobbying and taking positions on business issues,” she explains. Prior to joining the Chamber, Brent-Bumb had a successful 20-year career in real estate and has applied many of the lessons from her former career into her new one. “I learned to be a good listener and to be service-oriented,” Brent-Bumb says.
These days, the Chamber has many projects in the works, including the Sustainable Forest Action Coalition, a national campaign to open a dialogue between the timber industry and the U.S. Forest Service. Brent-Bumb is also a proud supporter of the Junior Ambassador Program, which provides scholarships and leadership opportunities to local high school students. More than anything, she aspires to make the Chamber the voice of business in the community by encouraging people to support local businesses and tourism, despite tough economic times. “One of the things I love about El Dorado County is the pioneer spirit that is so much the pulse of this community,” Brent-Bumb says. “Challenging times bring out the best in people.”
