Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Pampering Pickle is a fun place to find goodies and gifts for dogs and the people who love them most. Friendly dogs are welcome! After working in animal health care and welfare for over 15 years, I decided to reinvent myself by moving into marketing. While corporate life had much to teach me, it simply was not my passion. Getting a tail to wag is, so instead of buying a house, I started Pampering Pickle; first as an online business, and now as a visible part of Historic Downtown Placerville.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

Our goal is to make dogs a visible and viable aspect of our community by promoting the human-animal bond. We participate in all of the Downtown Placerville events and support the fundraising efforts of our local animal rescue organizations. We are also working to create a “dog-friendly guide” for our area. Getting married? People who love their dogs want them to be there on their special day. We provide a wide range of wedding services to ensure that your dog is right by your side, always, even on your wedding day.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Finding balance between a happy home life and a successful business. All of the little accomplishments along the way helped me to attain balance.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

To the trees with my dogs. Hiking in the fresh air surrounded by nature puts things back in perspective for me. The dogs make it fun.

What’s your hidden talent?

Fire dancing. Yes, that means dancing with balls of flame. I performed and taught classes all through college.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

Transporting my dog Thumper around our backyard in a wheelbarrow. My grandmother gardened while Thumper and I “helped.”

And finally, customer service is…?

Paying attention to what your customer is really saying and making that tail wag.

Do you know that our editorial is not paid for, nor can it be purchased? In fact, our Introducing and Dine reviews are not paid advertisements.
