Fins Market & Grill

Pining for a fresh piece of fish but unable to make the two-hour drive to the coast, I was reeled into Fins Market & Grill – ultimately leaving hooked on this gem of an eatery.
The white tablecloths, quiet conversations buzzing about and soft music immediately put me in a Zen-like state, while the framed modern-art displaying various sea creatures and ample lighting gave me the sense Fins knows a thing or two about the effectiveness of ambiance.
The boyfriend and I started our meal off with a “battle between the chowders” brought upon by his desire for the New England and mine for the Manhattan-style. After ordering a bowl of each, the verdict was in: both were tasty, and while the New England proved to be the thicker and heartier of the two – the tomato-based Manhattan was lighter, incredibly flavorful and my personal favorite...the ideal dish to get any appetite warmed up!
Soon after ordering the Fish, Chips & Slaw and Ahi Sandwich entrees, they were delivered by our upbeat server. Once the fish and chip condiments arrived – malt vinegar, ketchup and tartar sauce – we quickly dug in. The Alaskan cod and Ahi tuna had clearly been freshly caught, while the artful presentation and perfect portions added to both dishes’ caliber of flavor. As I raved about the taste of my buttery-sweet seared tuna, my dining companion gushed over his flaky, moist cod and the complementing crunch of the batter. Props go out to the colorful coleslaw with its delightful, sweet, tangy dressing and the homemade tartar sauce featuring fresh dill.
After licking our plates clean, we took a peek at the Fish Market, where a variety of fresh seafood, flown in daily, is for sale – perfect if you want to take a stab at preparing homemade sushi or cioppino. Satisfied, but not grossly stuffed, we departed the restaurant raving about our fintastic experience!
