Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
The concept of Fit 4 the Tee came to me while I was working in my physical therapy clinic. I wondered: Could I create a business that combined my expertise as a physical therapist with my love for golf and fitness?
Fit 4 the Tee is not just for golfers! It is a personal training business that specializes in sport-specific assessment and fitness training. It is unique because of my years of experience working with injured athletes and my extensive training in orthopedic rehabilitation. Each client is approached from a medically sound perspective. I evaluate and then establish a customized exercise program to help my clients obtain their personal fitness goals, whether it’s running a race faster, hitting a ball further or even simply, losing weight.
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
I live in Placerville and try to support local charities such as Snowline Hospice. I have donated my time and expertise to help with the local high school’s sport physicals and often do “pro bono” work at the physical therapy clinic for patients who are uninsured. My customers will tell you that I give 100 percent of my energies to help them obtain their fitness goals!
Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?
The many women who have founded successful businesses. I try to remember their mottos: “You can do it!” and “Never let a customer believe that they are not important to you – a successful business is about relationships.”
What’s your hidden talent?
My organizational abilities. I have the ability to see a project, break it down into achievable tasks and implement a program. I am highly motivated by progress.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Abraham Lincoln. I’d love to ask him about the social issues surrounding the Civil War and how he handled the stress.
What’s your favorite local business other than your own?
I Fit Golf in Folsom. The owners are really nice and their new store is a needed addition to the golfing community.
