Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

I specialize in portrait photography of people, animals and events; I found it and it found me. I have always been passionate about photography but never took it seriously. My poor family always had a camera pointed at them at every holiday…or just because! As my children grew up and started to leave home, I decided it was time to get serious, and I went back to school.

What was your first job, and what did you learn from the experience?

As a young teenager, I was a house cleaner for an elderly lady. The thing I learned most from that job was “service.” Although I got paid for cleaning, it was still an act of service for someone that was not able to do it by themselves.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

I am involved with my customers by listening to what they are looking for in a portrait, where they want to display it, and what memories they want to capture and remember. I have combined the two things that I love: people and animals. I try to photograph that connection between owner and “best friend.” My involvement in the community is combined with my time as a member of the Professional Photographers of Sacramento Valley, and a ladies photography and arts group. I am also getting more involved in different ministries at Green Valley Community Church in Placerville.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Raising my three children to be independent and responsible adults. I am extremely proud of them and their accomplishments.

What’s your biggest job perk?

Meeting new people.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

My aunt and uncle had a ranch on California’s central coast. Every summer my sisters and I would spend time there, and we loved being with all the animals and playing with cousins. I have always been a country girl at heart.

If you could be any other profession what would it have been? A veterinarian.

And finally, customer service is…?

Most important! I want a photography session to be relaxed and fun, and to capture that special look, laugh or moment, while everyone is enjoying the experience.
