We all know that Twitter and Facebook are hot! But what does they have to do with wine?

There are numerous exceptional wineries with new offerings daily…so how can a winery differentiate themself from the pack? Relevance. The name Craig Camp of Cornerstone Cellars kept popping up in my never-ending search for exceptional wines; constant reminders via social media like Twitter and Facebook give wineries a reach out to their customers. Though Cornerstone has only two wines, I am impressed by the pedigree of their Howell Mountain and Napa valley fruit as well as their great winemaker, Celia Masyczek, who also consults for many of Napa’s finest. Both the Napa Valley and Howell Mountain Cabs are wonderfully rich, full-bodied wines that have staying power. The drinkability of both wines is impressive, considering their age.

The exceptional stand out is the Cornerstone Cellar’s Napa Valley 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon. For the money, it’s a good buy considering the quality of the fruit and Masyczek’s magical touch (her other wines retail between $80-$300). The forward red cherry is nicely accented by a bit of eucalyptus and cinnamon. After your initial taste of the nicely integrated fruit, the finish seems to weaken but comes back with a blast of deliciousness. This ‘05 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a great roundness in flavor – making it very drinkable today and extraordinary in a couple of years.
