The City of Placerville has put petal to the metal to help keep the spirit of Earth Day alive by continuing the celebration at a botanical-rich event held at Town Hall on Main Street. The Rhythm and Blooms May Day Party, scheduled to spring forward on May 1, from 6 to 10 p.m., invites locals and visitors to join together to enjoy the evening’s blooming flower baskets and good company in support of a “grassroots effort to help beautify Historic Main Street.” No longer does the Hippie Generation claim sole ownership of flower power; this event showcases botanicals and horticulture that not only create a more artful landscape for the community to enjoy, but also helps Mother Nature nurture our world by promoting sustainability and ecologically responsible growing practices. Beyond celebrating the season’s greening for which May Day – an English tradition marked by dancing around large, brightly decorated maypoles, honoring nature and the spring equinox – this Friday night fundraiser will also feature a host of modern-day entertainment, including music by Hot Diggity, as well as a selection of delicious fare and a no-host bar with celebrity bartenders. Now that’s top shelf entertainment! For more information about Rhythm & Blooms, visit placerville-downtown.org
